I was also once a platoon leader of a rifle platoon in combat, although it was in another war. So, I can appreciate the heroism of the individual soldiers and officers whose story is told by Hal Moore in this book. Many years later I also served a year in Vietnam.
Late in the book, Gen Moore says that he hopes that future wars will be un-necesary.
Sorry, sir, but this war was un-necessary and your book illustrates vividly how futile it was. A look at the post war scene illustrates how futile (and un-necessary) all wars are!!!
